My name is Olivia Rice, I’m an intern from the States working in the Employment Access Program. Last May, I had the chance to come to SA with a group from my university (Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts). I visited Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban while studying the education system in South Africa. I fell in love with Cape Town and I knew I had to come back. I am an international affairs and anthropology major with a passion fighting poverty and injustice. At the Scalabrini Centre, I am gaining both hands on experience, working directly with clients on their CV/ helping them with the job search process, and in-depth knowledge of an office environment. I also assist in facilitating Digital Literacy workshops which teaches clients fundamental computer knowledge. Even though I have only been working at Scalabrini for a few weeks, I already love my internship and my inspiring co-workers.
