Hi everyone! My name is Emma Carone, I’m 22 and I’m from a small town in Connecticut in the States. I’m spending six months volunteering with the Scalabrini Centre, working with the English School Department and teaching English Classes twice a week.

I decided to come to Cape Town about four years ago when I first started my studies at University, but I never had the time or resources to come until now. After I graduated this past May, I spent the next several months working so I could begin my travels. Finally making it here has been a dream come true, and so far I’m loving it!

Working here at Scalabrini has been really great so far. Not only have I met lots of really fun volunteers and employees who all share similar interests, but I’ve been able to meet and interact with all sorts of different people and help in the process of changing their lives. These past few weeks have already been enriching and very unique to my travel experience. Cape Town and the Scalabrini Centre have been so excellent so far, and I’m excited to see what else I will discover in the next few months!
