Teachers Volunteer Project

image1Now – after a successful pilot project – the Employment Help Desk has officially launched its Teachers Volunteering Programme. Foreign educators are placed into South African Schools affected by staff shortage – with advantageous results for both sides: our mostly Zimbabwean teachers get first hand teaching experience in Cape Town, learn about the national curriculum and get a chance to network, thus increasing their chances of finding employment within the education sector.

The schools, on the other hand, receive an experienced aid and if they should ever want to employ an educator, they don’t have to look very far to find one.

Furthermore, the exchange between teachers from different backgrounds is promoted; foreigners work alongside South African nationals with the common goal of educating tomorrow’s generation – what better tool to promote integration than leading by example!
