Philip

philipThis is Philip from the US! He has been part of the Employment Help Desk for two weeks already and the only problem with him is that he will have to go home again at the end of July  😦

Philip says:

I hail from West Lafayette, Indiana, where I study Political Science and
History at Purdue University. In my spare time, I enjoy playing guitar,
writing songs, and coaching “American football” at my former high school. In
my short three weeks in Cape Town, I have fallen in love with the city and
its people.
As a result, I hope to someday make it back to South Africa at a warmer and
less rainy time of year. (I’ve already started looking at plane tickets for
December/January.)

At Scalabrini, I have loved the one-on-one consultations with the people;
their inspirational stories exemplify the resilience of the human spirit. It
is humbling to assist individuals who have so little, when I come from a
place where there is so much excess. Already I see my experience at
Scalabrini to be invaluable, and it is sad to think that my time here is
almost half-over.

Many thanks to the staff at the centre for being so fun and inviting! You’ve
helped make my stay in Cape Town all the more pleasant!
